Description

MOTS-C is a mitochondrial DNA-encoded peptide first identified in 2015 by researchers at the University of Southern California. Preclinical studies published in Cell Metabolism showed that MOTS-C regulates glucose metabolism through AMPK pathway activation, promoting glucose uptake and fatty acid oxidation. In animal models, it has been associated with improved insulin sensitivity, prevention of diet-induced weight gain, and enhanced physical endurance. More recent research is exploring its potential role in healthy aging and metabolic function, although human clinical studies are still in early stages.
